Growing up!

We all know growing up is inevitable, something that will happen weather you want it to or not. It takes some people longer than others to do so but the numbers will cosistantly keep ticking. For those that are standing by watching, it can sometimes be with mixed emotions.

My Hikawera turns 5 on Friday.(by the way Happy Birthday Jet for tomorrow. Your buddy misses you!!)
5 in New Zealand means "big School". Hikawera began his 1st of his 3 pre visits this week to Kaukapakapa School.  His daddy had the privilige to accompany him.

I am still turning inside. Happy, sad, excited... all the emotions. You would think that by number 4 it would be easier!!! Yet once again I find myself saying, "My baby is all grown up and going to school!" (tear)

I must say though he really enjoyed it. No photo's this time though sorry, he was not impressed with mum trying to take a few shots.  Perhaps tomorrow.....

  1. The next thing you know they are holding hands with someone making promises for forever... It happens all to fast. But each new stage is so full of wonderfulness both with the good and the bad. It doesn't get any easier, no matter what 'number' child it is. Happy Birthday big boy!

Hakarimata's again!

Yes, we did it! We climbed the Hakarimata's again. Still hard, still so rewarding!!

"I'll be your best friend?!"

My baby never fails to have a “such a cutie” moment every day. I don’t know what it is about him, perhaps knowing he is the baby, or simply that he was such a good baby, that I have noticed these little moment s more.   I have to share this one with you. It has happened twice this last week. We are sitting in the car and Rakaipaka calls out and asks for something. Usually it is a lolly or chocolate or something I don’t have at that time. Anyway I call out ‘no’, and the response comes back, “Oooh, Ill be your best friend”!!! Ha How cute is that!! He is all of what 2 years old and is already trying that line on his mother!!! Now the question is posed…. Which one of his siblings did he hear that from!!!!

Monday Night Fun

For those in the same faith as our family - The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, you would be familiar with Family Home Evening. We have ours most times on a Monday evening. Last night we decided to go into the local school and play netball and on the play gyms that are there. It was a lot of fun. I think I surprised Teancum at how good I was at shooting into the Netball goal. Even Renata, Hikawera and Rakaipaka had a go. There are 2 play gyms at the school. One smaller one at the front of the school for the younger children and one really big one at the back in front of the school pool. This one is really high. If you look at the photo with Teancum in it and note that he is about 2 inches off being taller than me, you will get an idea of how tall this is. The slide is perfect for speed!! (and you know ours LOVE speed). To make it that much more exciting they decided to sit on their shirts and slide down. Needless to say they had a ball....        ...
