Rangikawea turns 13 ..

My Rangikawea turned 13 on the 9th of Feb. As his birthday falls on a Sunday this year, he had 2 friends over on the Friday night before and activities on the saturday.

Kawea was really great. He only asked for 2 friends to come over one from school and one from church. They all seemed to get along really well. Friday night was Nacho's and Banana Ice cream Splits. The boys then watched movies and hung out in the 'man cave'.

Saturday morning Paint balling was on the agenda. Mid day we arrived at Woodhill Forest - about 25 min from our house. The boys ( Nauvoo, Teancum and Dad included) suited up for their day of fun. The age limit was 10 to participate. I am sooo glad of this - can you imagine Hikawera and Renata running around wth a paintball gun?? (yeah NAAH!)

there was a very cool safety breifing.

Then they were sent off to collect their wepons.

Gun Shed in the "hot zone"
And marched off to complete their first mission!

sorry couldn't get a shot in front of the netting.. adds to the effects I suppose..

With only 100 bullets each they did really really well. They played for about 2 1/2 hours.

When they were all hot and happy, we went to the pool with some lunch to cool down.

On Sunday a yummy banana cake was sent to church to have with the Young Men.

Happy Birthday my big boy!!

Flashback - Rotten teeth?

I was putting the boys to bed the other night, and as usual you go through the usual teeth toilet, bed etc... I asked Rakai, did you brush your teeth? He said no. (He was honest) So, I said, "do you want your teeth to fall out while you are asleep?" He answered with a sad look on his face, "yes, cause then I can get some money". Oh that was such a Rakai thing to say!! I had to counter that (trying not to laugh) by telling him that the tooth fairy doesn't give money for rotten teeth! Then, Hikawera pipes up saying he got $5 for a rotten (dead actually from being banged) tooth that the dentist had to pull out. I had to go into real damage control then!! Rakai comes out with the funniest things sometimes. He is golden.

Volleyball

Teancum really enjoys playing volleyball. He jumped right into the teams at boys high, and within a couple of weeks, he was in the 'A' team. They came runner up this season to a solid Hillcrest school team. An awesome group of boys.

Hakarimata's again!

Yes, we did it! We climbed the Hakarimata's again. Still hard, still so rewarding!!
