Chaperone

When my husband suggested we go to the Youth dance to chaperone, my initial reaction was luke warm to say the least. Not really my idea of a "night out" or so I thought..

I learnt it was a 1920's theme dance. YES!! ok, so I think that won me over to begin with. hehe. I love to dress up in theme, and due to the lack of opportunities to do so, I think it was the carrot that really won me over. The fact that my 15 year old son actually wanted to dress up in theme sealed the deal..

As the time came closer, I wondered just how much 'chaperoning' we would end up doing. The great Gadsby - 1920's is an era I LOVE. The clothes, music, dance, so fun. Teancum wanted to dress like a mobster, so thanks to the $2 shop I was able to pick up some pretty cool accessories.

We rushed home from work and got ready. Nauvoo was right by my side putting make up on. She was straightening her hair, and I was trying - let me emphasize TRYING to curl my hair.lol (it didn't work in the end) My daughter is sooo beautiful.

My big boy looked sooo handsome, and you just have to love your kids when they tell you "you look beautiful mum!!"xx

My neice Truth was waiting at the stake centre. I was trying to convince my son to wear the white hat I had bought him. It was a little on the 'small side'. His cousin had almost convinced him when our Bishop walked out of the building with - the same hat - that was the end of that!!!

Here are the before shots. There are some good ones of during the dance that I will get my hands on soon, they had the best photo booth with props and all sorts set up in one of the foyers. Really Fun.

IT was a great night, and my son said we didn't 'cramp his style'. lol XX

Flashback - Rotten teeth?

I was putting the boys to bed the other night, and as usual you go through the usual teeth toilet, bed etc... I asked Rakai, did you brush your teeth? He said no. (He was honest) So, I said, "do you want your teeth to fall out while you are asleep?" He answered with a sad look on his face, "yes, cause then I can get some money". Oh that was such a Rakai thing to say!! I had to counter that (trying not to laugh) by telling him that the tooth fairy doesn't give money for rotten teeth! Then, Hikawera pipes up saying he got $5 for a rotten (dead actually from being banged) tooth that the dentist had to pull out. I had to go into real damage control then!! Rakai comes out with the funniest things sometimes. He is golden.

Volleyball

Teancum really enjoys playing volleyball. He jumped right into the teams at boys high, and within a couple of weeks, he was in the 'A' team. They came runner up this season to a solid Hillcrest school team. An awesome group of boys.

Hakarimata's again!

Yes, we did it! We climbed the Hakarimata's again. Still hard, still so rewarding!!
