HAIL!

I may have mentioned that it is getting cold here in New Zealand, but the other morning we had a cold...snap. You can usually feel it when hail is about to hit. That sudden icy cold (I don't know how people can live in snow!) feeling came about 7:30am. When the rain came shortly after I knew what we were in for. HAIL!! not golf ball size like aussie gets but delicate small drops of ice. Everywhere. I stood at the door calling out to all the kids, and no one budged!! I guess the excitement did not want to leave the warmth of the blankets!

  1. that is so cool! All the older kids grew up in Cairns and the only exciting thing is cyclones (that is fun though) anyway you don't get any hail up there in the tropics, so the excitement of hail was over whelming. They still tell me if it has hailed and everyone runs out to pick up the hail. It must have been so cold there though.

Flashback - Rotten teeth?

I was putting the boys to bed the other night, and as usual you go through the usual teeth toilet, bed etc... I asked Rakai, did you brush your teeth? He said no. (He was honest) So, I said, "do you want your teeth to fall out while you are asleep?" He answered with a sad look on his face, "yes, cause then I can get some money". Oh that was such a Rakai thing to say!! I had to counter that (trying not to laugh) by telling him that the tooth fairy doesn't give money for rotten teeth! Then, Hikawera pipes up saying he got $5 for a rotten (dead actually from being banged) tooth that the dentist had to pull out. I had to go into real damage control then!! Rakai comes out with the funniest things sometimes. He is golden.

Volleyball

Teancum really enjoys playing volleyball. He jumped right into the teams at boys high, and within a couple of weeks, he was in the 'A' team. They came runner up this season to a solid Hillcrest school team. An awesome group of boys.

Hakarimata's again!

Yes, we did it! We climbed the Hakarimata's again. Still hard, still so rewarding!!
