Renata is riding

Renata has watched on for years at his siblings racing around him on their bikes. I actually thought it would be a long time before he ever rode a 2 wheeler by himself. One day when I was trying to teach him, he almost had it and scared himself so stopped so to my complete surprise and delight on Friday, I turned around at the kids excited noises to find my Renata riding a 2 wheeler all by himself... How cool is that!!!
(yes he is still 3)

Rangikawea and Hikawera would run close by him to make sure that he did not fall off. Sometimes a little too close,  it was so cute to see his 'bodyguards' running by him.  This was also to make sure he did not ride on the main road too.

Arama was standing by too to offer support and advise to him. It was so neat to see.

Now he can't wait to get out there and ride his 'big' boys bike around. Way to go Renata!

  1. How cute. Now don't blink because if you do he'll be getting his drivers license.

Flashback - Rotten teeth?

I was putting the boys to bed the other night, and as usual you go through the usual teeth toilet, bed etc... I asked Rakai, did you brush your teeth? He said no. (He was honest) So, I said, "do you want your teeth to fall out while you are asleep?" He answered with a sad look on his face, "yes, cause then I can get some money". Oh that was such a Rakai thing to say!! I had to counter that (trying not to laugh) by telling him that the tooth fairy doesn't give money for rotten teeth! Then, Hikawera pipes up saying he got $5 for a rotten (dead actually from being banged) tooth that the dentist had to pull out. I had to go into real damage control then!! Rakai comes out with the funniest things sometimes. He is golden.

Volleyball

Teancum really enjoys playing volleyball. He jumped right into the teams at boys high, and within a couple of weeks, he was in the 'A' team. They came runner up this season to a solid Hillcrest school team. An awesome group of boys.

Hakarimata's again!

Yes, we did it! We climbed the Hakarimata's again. Still hard, still so rewarding!!
