Egg Head

As if my day of walking my children back from the bus was not full of warm fuzzy's already, here is what else happened that day.

When I greeted Hikawera getting off the bus the same day this is what met me.

Hang on it looks much better in this photo

(If you can't see what I am talking about he has a really big EGG in the middle of his forehead.)

ARE YOU KIDDING ME!!!! No phone call, No letter in his bag...... Nothing... but my 5 year old telling me he ran into a pole after lunchtime - but still ran in the cross country practice that afternoon.... UNBELIEVEABLE! I don't cotton wool my children but I do draw the line somewhere.

We arrived home after 4 from walking up from the bus stop so  I left a very stern and unimpressed message on the school message service.

Needless to say I had a very colorful discussion with the office when I went to see them the next morning. I know my son is a little prone to injuries but common sense would tell you to call to let parent know that their child will be coming home "damaged"..

Actually a good  point to raise from this. Check out the school or childcare their policy and procedures for accidents or ANY incidents or occurances involving your child. Weather it be verbal, behavior, academic anything, make it VERY clear and specific - to be noted on their file - that you must be contacted immediately with anything involving your child(ren) comes up. Some schools are good, others are very lapsed and are not required to inform.... so check it out and be Specific!! I sure was that day!! (one for the mums)

Flashback - Rotten teeth?

I was putting the boys to bed the other night, and as usual you go through the usual teeth toilet, bed etc... I asked Rakai, did you brush your teeth? He said no. (He was honest) So, I said, "do you want your teeth to fall out while you are asleep?" He answered with a sad look on his face, "yes, cause then I can get some money". Oh that was such a Rakai thing to say!! I had to counter that (trying not to laugh) by telling him that the tooth fairy doesn't give money for rotten teeth! Then, Hikawera pipes up saying he got $5 for a rotten (dead actually from being banged) tooth that the dentist had to pull out. I had to go into real damage control then!! Rakai comes out with the funniest things sometimes. He is golden.

Volleyball

Teancum really enjoys playing volleyball. He jumped right into the teams at boys high, and within a couple of weeks, he was in the 'A' team. They came runner up this season to a solid Hillcrest school team. An awesome group of boys.

Hakarimata's again!

Yes, we did it! We climbed the Hakarimata's again. Still hard, still so rewarding!!
