Scatter Sunshine

The weather has been fining up as of late. We have not had rain for a while, It makes me wonder if the rain has finished for winter.

I took the two youngest boys to Albany (25 min drive) to get our groceries and the day panned out to be lovely. Renata now so in love with bike riding convinced me (yes, my 3 year old convinced me) to bring his bike along. These two are almost inseperable at the moment. I stopped at a park on the way home and let him go for it. While Rakaipaka swang and played Renata zoomed around the parking lot gaining more and more confident. Excited when he was able to make little skids on the path and other little tricks.

  1. his cousins LOVE bike riding as well, particularly mountain biking. Can't wait for them to go riding together someday. Jess has graduated to a love of motorbike riding. Yes her dad and big brother had a lot to do with that one.

Hakarimata's again!

Yes, we did it! We climbed the Hakarimata's again. Still hard, still so rewarding!!

"I'll be your best friend?!"

My baby never fails to have a “such a cutie” moment every day. I don’t know what it is about him, perhaps knowing he is the baby, or simply that he was such a good baby, that I have noticed these little moment s more.   I have to share this one with you. It has happened twice this last week. We are sitting in the car and Rakaipaka calls out and asks for something. Usually it is a lolly or chocolate or something I don’t have at that time. Anyway I call out ‘no’, and the response comes back, “Oooh, Ill be your best friend”!!! Ha How cute is that!! He is all of what 2 years old and is already trying that line on his mother!!! Now the question is posed…. Which one of his siblings did he hear that from!!!!

Flashback - Rotten teeth?

I was putting the boys to bed the other night, and as usual you go through the usual teeth toilet, bed etc... I asked Rakai, did you brush your teeth? He said no. (He was honest) So, I said, "do you want your teeth to fall out while you are asleep?" He answered with a sad look on his face, "yes, cause then I can get some money". Oh that was such a Rakai thing to say!! I had to counter that (trying not to laugh) by telling him that the tooth fairy doesn't give money for rotten teeth! Then, Hikawera pipes up saying he got $5 for a rotten (dead actually from being banged) tooth that the dentist had to pull out. I had to go into real damage control then!! Rakai comes out with the funniest things sometimes. He is golden.
