Monday Night Fun

For those in the same faith as our family - The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, you would be familiar with Family Home Evening. We have ours most times on a Monday evening.
Last night we decided to go into the local school and play netball and on the play gyms that are there. It was a lot of fun.

I think I surprised Teancum at how good I was at shooting into the Netball goal. Even Renata, Hikawera and Rakaipaka had a go.

There are 2 play gyms at the school. One smaller one at the front of the school for the younger children and one really big one at the back in front of the school pool. This one is really high. If you look at the photo with Teancum in it and note that he is about 2 inches off being taller than me, you will get an idea of how tall this is. The slide is perfect for speed!! (and you know ours LOVE speed). To make it that much more exciting they decided to sit on their shirts and slide down. Needless to say they had a ball....

We always knew Kawea was a great climber and was always saying he would be the one to climb the coconut trees in Fiji, well, he is still true to form.

When we finally went home, I allowed Renata and Hikawera to "drive the car" down our 211m steep driveway. Renata was a classic with his facials - and sound effects to go with the face- and Hikawera wanted of course to do it himself and insisted I take my hands off the wheel. I must say for the most part he was actually really good at staying on the road.

Good memories for the day, although it was a little bit of a mission to get them to bed........

Flashback - Rotten teeth?

I was putting the boys to bed the other night, and as usual you go through the usual teeth toilet, bed etc... I asked Rakai, did you brush your teeth? He said no. (He was honest) So, I said, "do you want your teeth to fall out while you are asleep?" He answered with a sad look on his face, "yes, cause then I can get some money". Oh that was such a Rakai thing to say!! I had to counter that (trying not to laugh) by telling him that the tooth fairy doesn't give money for rotten teeth! Then, Hikawera pipes up saying he got $5 for a rotten (dead actually from being banged) tooth that the dentist had to pull out. I had to go into real damage control then!! Rakai comes out with the funniest things sometimes. He is golden.

Volleyball

Teancum really enjoys playing volleyball. He jumped right into the teams at boys high, and within a couple of weeks, he was in the 'A' team. They came runner up this season to a solid Hillcrest school team. An awesome group of boys.

Hakarimata's again!

Yes, we did it! We climbed the Hakarimata's again. Still hard, still so rewarding!!
