Moon walker... My Michael Jackson!

T hurt his ankle at rugby the other week. After staying home Friday because he could not walk, and not being able to finish training on Monday, he asked to go to the doctors. I took him in first thing Tuesday morning. We are getting used to the doctors here, so my son had a bit of a laugh.. Here's why.
T hobbled into the doctors. The doctor says "hmm no swelling but a little tender here, so I think we will do an exray." T and I look at each other and I say, "does he really need an exray? He walked in here." The doctor then proceeded to tell me that sometimes people can walk on a broken ankle - I'm guessing he means hairline fracture or something.. And he ordered the X-ray.
X-ray was taken, and big surprise.. doctor said,"good news it's not broken" no, really (ok so pretend to be shocked!)
He then says but he needs a moon boot. I associate moon boots with broken legs so I was again questioning him about the moon boot.. He insists, disappears the nurse comes along with a fancy handsome lookin' moon boot. T was like - I'm not wearing a moon boot! - hello, the nurse says it's the "new orange" when it comes to ankle repairs. Above strapping. He was told no sports for 3 weeks. Lol. Now since my son has been so fantastic with his coverage of other moments in our family via snapchat and such I returned the favor(not with snapshot but in fine paparatsi style).
Here is my baby's first steps in his little booty and a moment in time captured for my moon walker. Lol him to bits!

The Nastiest bug creates a war Zone

This entry has no photo's but as you read on you will see why. I did however need to be recorded for posterity!!! and to say We survived. Renata had been at school only 2 days, He went to his Last Montessori   Class on a Thursday. Friday morning Came and he began to throw up. Within the next 3 days 5 of my 6 children were down with the nastiest vomiting/diarrhea bug I have ever encountered. Arama was away on business, so I was on my own. This bug has had a reputation in our community, taking no prisoners and not missing any members of the family. Yes that bad. I was grateful Arama was away, but my big boy was due to go on his Pinacle Camp for a week with school on the Monday. I prayed that he would not get it. It was Fast Sunday the Sunday before so we both fasted he would not get sick before or ON his camp. (his first 2 days was a 2 day treck in the bush and the only way out was via rescue helecopter – not an option thanks) Just the thought of him possibly gett...
I LOVE the movie 'Tangled'. It is such a fun movie and suits my humor to a 'T'. I watched it the other weekend with my kids, and have at times been reminded of that funny song " I've got a Dream". Yes you know the one. Anyway one day I was miraculously sitting in the car by my self. (The miraculous thing was that I was by myself, how often does that happen...) So I thought about what MY dreams are, not the kids not my darling husbands but MY dream. I was reminded the ultimate dream for me would be to be able to sing all day every day. Write music (that people would actually LOVE and not just say so to be polite) To be able to sing all day for a living... for LIFE! That is my dream. Dream on right?! Well I also reminded too that you have to make your own dreams come true. Life is not a movie... well at least for me anyway... we need to have our dreams and then go about making those dreams come true. Where possible ofcourse, I don't think the dream of...

The lost Necklace - by Nauvoo Puriri

Nauvoo and Hikawera had student led conferences last week. It was great to see their progress in class. I love how each child has a set of goals they knowingly must work towards. When they achieve this goal they work on another goal. Hikawera is a bit of a dark horse... full of surprises. He does really well in class and he is achieving great results. He has been at school since June 7th and one of his goals is to know 50 sight words by the end of this term. He already knows 21 words (tested him on monday of this week). It is such a rewarding feeling watching him write and spell correctly these words. I was sooo impressed. (needless to say with the amount of praises I gave him because I was so impressed will keep him wanting to succeed I am sure!) Nauvoo's teacher loves to describe her as a "little sponge". She soaks everything in and retains it. Nauvoo also has goals to which one of them with her spelling was to move up to the next set, which this week she excitedly ca...
