Friday Fun

I have a dear friend who does SOOO much for me!! Like ALL the time. There is not a time where I don’t think she is amazing and will she ever stop giving. Anyway, this Friday I was able to return the favor to her and take care of  her youngest son for the day. It was great! He is the same age as Renata, and though it was Ren’s day at kindergarten, Rakaipaka thought it was so cool to have Thomas with us. Thomas has swimming lessons on Friday at the heated pools, so off we went to Swimming lessons. He is a great swimmer for 4 years old. While he was in his lesson Rakai and I had a little dip. It is so theraputic. I loved the soak. So did Rakai. He is a fish I tell you!!
Thomas and Rakai having hot chips.

Rakai more interested in the sauce on the chips than saying 'cheese' to mum again!

After swimming lessons it is a  tradition to get hot chips and sauce. So of course we don’t break tradition. The gentleman who served us gave us an extra ‘large’ serving of chips.. thank you very much!! .. As we sat there eating it is really neat, lots of little plump sparrows come to say Hello.

(let me just explain, the inside heated pool has an opening in the roof over the pool, that is how the birds get in, and the water is lovely and hot, because as you should know by now if it isn’t warm…. I don’t go in!!)

Here are a picture of these little birds…. Soo cute and sooo PLUMP!!! A great Friday!! Thank you Looie and Thomas!

Flashback - Rotten teeth?

I was putting the boys to bed the other night, and as usual you go through the usual teeth toilet, bed etc... I asked Rakai, did you brush your teeth? He said no. (He was honest) So, I said, "do you want your teeth to fall out while you are asleep?" He answered with a sad look on his face, "yes, cause then I can get some money". Oh that was such a Rakai thing to say!! I had to counter that (trying not to laugh) by telling him that the tooth fairy doesn't give money for rotten teeth! Then, Hikawera pipes up saying he got $5 for a rotten (dead actually from being banged) tooth that the dentist had to pull out. I had to go into real damage control then!! Rakai comes out with the funniest things sometimes. He is golden.

Volleyball

Teancum really enjoys playing volleyball. He jumped right into the teams at boys high, and within a couple of weeks, he was in the 'A' team. They came runner up this season to a solid Hillcrest school team. An awesome group of boys.

Hakarimata's again!

Yes, we did it! We climbed the Hakarimata's again. Still hard, still so rewarding!!
