End of School Year

At the end of the school Year, Kaukapakapa Primary has their final presentation evening at the school. Thanks to daylight savings it is nice to be able to sit outside and watch the formalities and items. It is also a day where you get a chance to meet or at least eyeball what child belongs to who and those you have not met throughout the school year. Being 'newish' to the area this can be a good day.

When we go out Hikawera LOVES to break out his Leather Jacket. He looks good in it too and it suits him to a "T". His grade sang "I want a Hippopotomus for Christmas". Such a fun catchy song. )The whole family knows it now).

Nauvoo had just broken her arm a couple of days earlier but insisted that she attend the evening and sing with her class. Forgive me, I can not remember at the moment what song it was but spot my baby girl in the second row there - hint just look for the purple cast!!

Rangikawea's age group sang "the Rhythm of Life". It is funny to watch this age group sing this particular song and still try to look "COOL"..... I only have footage for his and I just can't seem to get them loaded...

Renata and Rakaipaka looked on and were quite entertained.

Good bye school, Hello Chaos!!

"I'll be your best friend?!"

My baby never fails to have a “such a cutie” moment every day. I don’t know what it is about him, perhaps knowing he is the baby, or simply that he was such a good baby, that I have noticed these little moment s more.   I have to share this one with you. It has happened twice this last week. We are sitting in the car and Rakaipaka calls out and asks for something. Usually it is a lolly or chocolate or something I don’t have at that time. Anyway I call out ‘no’, and the response comes back, “Oooh, Ill be your best friend”!!! Ha How cute is that!! He is all of what 2 years old and is already trying that line on his mother!!! Now the question is posed…. Which one of his siblings did he hear that from!!!!

Flashback - Rotten teeth?

I was putting the boys to bed the other night, and as usual you go through the usual teeth toilet, bed etc... I asked Rakai, did you brush your teeth? He said no. (He was honest) So, I said, "do you want your teeth to fall out while you are asleep?" He answered with a sad look on his face, "yes, cause then I can get some money". Oh that was such a Rakai thing to say!! I had to counter that (trying not to laugh) by telling him that the tooth fairy doesn't give money for rotten teeth! Then, Hikawera pipes up saying he got $5 for a rotten (dead actually from being banged) tooth that the dentist had to pull out. I had to go into real damage control then!! Rakai comes out with the funniest things sometimes. He is golden.

Monday Night Fun

For those in the same faith as our family - The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, you would be familiar with Family Home Evening. We have ours most times on a Monday evening. Last night we decided to go into the local school and play netball and on the play gyms that are there. It was a lot of fun. I think I surprised Teancum at how good I was at shooting into the Netball goal. Even Renata, Hikawera and Rakaipaka had a go. There are 2 play gyms at the school. One smaller one at the front of the school for the younger children and one really big one at the back in front of the school pool. This one is really high. If you look at the photo with Teancum in it and note that he is about 2 inches off being taller than me, you will get an idea of how tall this is. The slide is perfect for speed!! (and you know ours LOVE speed). To make it that much more exciting they decided to sit on their shirts and slide down. Needless to say they had a ball....        ...
