“No, that’s not how it goes, Your not singing it right”

Once our drama was over and we were on our way to drop off the primary kid to school (which they were even in time for) I mused over the conversations in the back seat of the car. Hikawera and Renata were singing “Baby” by Justin Beiber. I enjoy hearing the kids sing and tent to pay more attention to them being able to sing the song in tune, and am often impressed how well they do. This morning I laughed as Renata would exclaim to his brother, “No, that’s not how it goes”, refering to the words he was singing. Hikawera was not sure of the words so he sang some sounds that sounded something like what the words could be…  Renata then said, “it goes like this”, and began to sing his version of what he thought the words were – which was another version of sounds that sounded something like what the words could be – Hikawera then defended his verison by quoting his brother, “No, that’s not how it goes”. I am grateful the were able to agree on some of the words. They are: “Baby, Baby, Baby Oh, like Baby, baby, baby no, like Baby Baby baby oh,…….(and that  is when it turns to custard!!)

Flashback - Rotten teeth?

I was putting the boys to bed the other night, and as usual you go through the usual teeth toilet, bed etc... I asked Rakai, did you brush your teeth? He said no. (He was honest) So, I said, "do you want your teeth to fall out while you are asleep?" He answered with a sad look on his face, "yes, cause then I can get some money". Oh that was such a Rakai thing to say!! I had to counter that (trying not to laugh) by telling him that the tooth fairy doesn't give money for rotten teeth! Then, Hikawera pipes up saying he got $5 for a rotten (dead actually from being banged) tooth that the dentist had to pull out. I had to go into real damage control then!! Rakai comes out with the funniest things sometimes. He is golden.

Volleyball

Teancum really enjoys playing volleyball. He jumped right into the teams at boys high, and within a couple of weeks, he was in the 'A' team. They came runner up this season to a solid Hillcrest school team. An awesome group of boys.

Hakarimata's again!
