First week of School holidays

I must say I was looking forward to school holidays this time around. I love that the kids can sleep in, stay up late and routine goes out the window. I feel sad for my darling who has to still go to work, while we enjoy time together.  Here is a run down of our first week of holidays.

There is always the leave them where they lie attitude, so if they fall asleep in a place that is 'resonable' other than their bed, that is where they stay. Although they know they have to clean up in the morning. There is the wrestling matches in pajamas. All good till someone gets hurt.

I have found a little treasure cove, A recycle shop. It is poison I tell you...... You can find so much good stuff there. and for next to nothing. I am glad it is only open Friday and Saturdays, and I don't go into town often. Here is my latest find. A mini tramp for $10 - now the kids don't jump on my bed anymore.  They LOVE it!

We had to clean out the play house as we could not see the floor or get in the door, Now this is how it should look all the time, and everyone enjoys it so much more. It took us 3 days to clean it out!! Scary huh!!

We had a big day on Saturday where everyone was outside working. I promised my big boys - Arama and Emeka that we would go to the waterfall when we had finished. True to my word we piled up the van and drove down the road to Omaru Reserve. There are 3 waterfalls here. all within a short walk to each.  The water again, I say, is freezing. Great for summer but for me not quite there. Here is what the boys got up to.

This is the middle size waterfall. It has been raining on and off so the water is a bit muddy and running fast,

This leads to the small waterfall.

This is Arama and cousin Emeka tryig to work up the courage to get in the water, as I always say it is FREEZING!!

I had to laugh seeing these two teenagers holding hands to jump in together.... hehehehehe

And they are off...

Remember spectators are a necessity. I think that is as far as most of us got into the water.

The climb after the swim.

The jump after the climb. (and my heart is pounding for them right about now... said my prayers!!)

Arama took the plunge too.

Spectator sponsored by Doritos. (yum)

The walk to the big waterfall because the middle one just wasn't enough!! We walked through mud slush and bush due to the rain. It was pretty though.

And vwalah! The "big" waterfall.

The spectators became entertainment. Just happy to be there looking the part..

I just had to include this shot, toilet breaks are a must you know and with boys it is sooo easy.

mind you I don't think I would like to be swimming down stream right about now...

Now my dear nephew had me worried on this one... I must be getting old.... It was fine though when teancum swam out to where he was jumping to make sure there was nothing under the water and that he could not touch the bottom. BOYS!!

Here are my hero's!!

Flashback - Rotten teeth?

I was putting the boys to bed the other night, and as usual you go through the usual teeth toilet, bed etc... I asked Rakai, did you brush your teeth? He said no. (He was honest) So, I said, "do you want your teeth to fall out while you are asleep?" He answered with a sad look on his face, "yes, cause then I can get some money". Oh that was such a Rakai thing to say!! I had to counter that (trying not to laugh) by telling him that the tooth fairy doesn't give money for rotten teeth! Then, Hikawera pipes up saying he got $5 for a rotten (dead actually from being banged) tooth that the dentist had to pull out. I had to go into real damage control then!! Rakai comes out with the funniest things sometimes. He is golden.

Volleyball

Teancum really enjoys playing volleyball. He jumped right into the teams at boys high, and within a couple of weeks, he was in the 'A' team. They came runner up this season to a solid Hillcrest school team. An awesome group of boys.

Hakarimata's again!

Yes, we did it! We climbed the Hakarimata's again. Still hard, still so rewarding!!
