What do you do when you realize your keys are in the other car with your better half 3/4 hour away from home with 5 minutes to get the kids to the school bus??? Yes, well.
Lucky for me, Jacque had not left for work yet so the kids were able to catch a ride with her. (thank you so much)That meant walking to the bus stop to pick them up that afternoon. No problem.
2:30pm rolled around. Renata, Rakaipaka and I headed up the driveway to meet the bus. It would take us about 1/2 hour with little legs to get there. Anyway, we started up the driveway only to notice the chickens wanted to come for a walk too. Seriously I know now why chickens are such a big part of human consumption, they are so seriously stupid animals. their brains must be sooo tiny!!(sorry animal rights). I tried to encourage them to return home but after 10 minutes of 'nice' coaxing I picked up 2 rocks from the drive threw it in their direction and they promptly ran home.... Honestly!!!!
The walk to the bus was great. Love the fresh air and the view.
When Nauvoo and Hikawera climbed off the bus Nauvoo proudly showed me her box of chocolates to sell as a fundraiser for her school.. The person with the most boxes sold wins a digital camera! How exciting! She bubbled with excitement of how she was going to sell these chocolates. Meanwhile my chocolate baby Rakaipaka recognised the Cadbury sign and immediately zoned in on that box! He kept his eye on it the whole way home, Yelling at his sister to dop (stop) and something else I couldn't sifen when he lost sight of the beloved chocolate box. ( I must tell you he was harnessed on my back so this made for an interesting walk on my part his head trying to see over or around my body.)
Now if that is not enough for you, Nauvoo walks really fast from the bus stop to our home. Hikawera ran close behind and with the chocolate box as incentive Renata was trailing not far behind Hikawera, and of course I bring up the rear to snap this cute shot.
Now you would think this would be the most of our excitement for the afternoon but no, just as I walk over the blind hill after our children (which I have taught to walk along side safely thank you) I found this:
I had heard that familiar cry of injustice seconds before but you know it can become music to my ears (if you know what I mean) As I approached Renata rather quickly seeing him sitting in the middle of a dirt road (seriously!!!) he was SINGING!!!! I was geared up to let him have the 'sitting in the middle of the road' leacture (yeah how many of you can say youv'e had that conversation!!!) when I heard in this sweet innocent voice singing, " And with God nothing is impossible,......" (a song we have been teaching the kids to sing as a family). Well how close to the truth was he! Not impossible that he could be come a pancake any second. So I told him so, and when I hope he understood we carried on home singing that wonderful little song.
Just another average day? What was yours like?
ps By the way there's more.. See "egg head" story.
