The first of the Last...

Saturday marked the first of the last games of rugby for the season. As the draw has it we were split 4 games 4 different venues, so we split up. Arama went one way with Nauvoo, Renata and Rangikawea and I ventured off the other direction with Rakaipaka, Arama and Hikawera. It was rather chilly when we went to watch Hikawera play. You can see by the photo with the frost on the grass. The kids were trying to warm up for the game, catching the ball with their jacket arms, hands tucked inside..

We brought along a bike or two to keep the younger ones happy, but as you can see it may not have just been for the 'little' ones. While Hikawera played, so did the boys.

What can I say!!!

Hikawera played an awesome game. He ripped and scored 3 Tries. One of which I am sure everyone became so tired of chasing him around in a figure 8 that he finally slipped passed them to score. He received the player of the day award.

After Hikawera's success we ventured through to Massey for Arama's last game of the season with his J1 team. The sun had started to shine by then so we were feeling pretty good.  I had to giggle, Rakaipaka has always loved the waterbottles and usually I spend half the time trying to stop him from systematically drinking from each bottle (Yuck!). I think we have finally figured out how to stop that, and it had to be at the end of the season too... I looked down and found this...

Definately one of the team now...
Arama and his team played really well today. Teancum was on his game with all aspects of his game. He became the tackling machine I know so well. He is a solid strong boy, so when he was making  a break with the ball one of the apponent tried to stop him and ended up like this:

The sound of the two smacking into each other had the spectators in unison "Ohhhh!"
My boy trotted over to his team unscathed, while his apponent was escorted off nursing his shoulder. (That is what happens when you don't wrap up properly!)

It was a great game. A great way to end off the season. Here is the team.

The Nastiest bug creates a war Zone

This entry has no photo's but as you read on you will see why. I did however need to be recorded for posterity!!! and to say We survived. Renata had been at school only 2 days, He went to his Last Montessori   Class on a Thursday. Friday morning Came and he began to throw up. Within the next 3 days 5 of my 6 children were down with the nastiest vomiting/diarrhea bug I have ever encountered. Arama was away on business, so I was on my own. This bug has had a reputation in our community, taking no prisoners and not missing any members of the family. Yes that bad. I was grateful Arama was away, but my big boy was due to go on his Pinacle Camp for a week with school on the Monday. I prayed that he would not get it. It was Fast Sunday the Sunday before so we both fasted he would not get sick before or ON his camp. (his first 2 days was a 2 day treck in the bush and the only way out was via rescue helecopter – not an option thanks) Just the thought of him possibly gett
I LOVE the movie 'Tangled'. It is such a fun movie and suits my humor to a 'T'. I watched it the other weekend with my kids, and have at times been reminded of that funny song " I've got a Dream". Yes you know the one. Anyway one day I was miraculously sitting in the car by my self. (The miraculous thing was that I was by myself, how often does that happen...) So I thought about what MY dreams are, not the kids not my darling husbands but MY dream. I was reminded the ultimate dream for me would be to be able to sing all day every day. Write music (that people would actually LOVE and not just say so to be polite) To be able to sing all day for a living... for LIFE! That is my dream. Dream on right?! Well I also reminded too that you have to make your own dreams come true. Life is not a movie... well at least for me anyway... we need to have our dreams and then go about making those dreams come true. Where possible ofcourse, I don't think the dream of

The lost Necklace - by Nauvoo Puriri

Nauvoo and Hikawera had student led conferences last week. It was great to see their progress in class. I love how each child has a set of goals they knowingly must work towards. When they achieve this goal they work on another goal. Hikawera is a bit of a dark horse... full of surprises. He does really well in class and he is achieving great results. He has been at school since June 7th and one of his goals is to know 50 sight words by the end of this term. He already knows 21 words (tested him on monday of this week). It is such a rewarding feeling watching him write and spell correctly these words. I was sooo impressed. (needless to say with the amount of praises I gave him because I was so impressed will keep him wanting to succeed I am sure!) Nauvoo's teacher loves to describe her as a "little sponge". She soaks everything in and retains it. Nauvoo also has goals to which one of them with her spelling was to move up to the next set, which this week she excitedly ca
