Shhhhh! Don't Look!

Arama Teancum started piano when he was 7years old. As time went on he lost interest in it , and by 12 years old it was PAINFUL for him to practice and for us to try to get him to, so he turned to drums. He was awesome at these too. (Arama is the kind of Boy that is great at anything he tries)
So you can imagine my surprise and absolute pleasure when I saw this.

Arama has been doing music at school and here he is playing an arrangement he composed on the piano. I dared not say a word!! I pretended not to notice and  Just watched with pride as he twinkled his fingers around and was equally stoked when his brother sat next to him to watch.  This is a ‘Yay’ moment for a parent. ( he didn’t even know I took the picture!)

"I'll be your best friend?!"

My baby never fails to have a “such a cutie” moment every day. I don’t know what it is about him, perhaps knowing he is the baby, or simply that he was such a good baby, that I have noticed these little moment s more.   I have to share this one with you. It has happened twice this last week. We are sitting in the car and Rakaipaka calls out and asks for something. Usually it is a lolly or chocolate or something I don’t have at that time. Anyway I call out ‘no’, and the response comes back, “Oooh, Ill be your best friend”!!! Ha How cute is that!! He is all of what 2 years old and is already trying that line on his mother!!! Now the question is posed…. Which one of his siblings did he hear that from!!!!

Flashback - Rotten teeth?

I was putting the boys to bed the other night, and as usual you go through the usual teeth toilet, bed etc... I asked Rakai, did you brush your teeth? He said no. (He was honest) So, I said, "do you want your teeth to fall out while you are asleep?" He answered with a sad look on his face, "yes, cause then I can get some money". Oh that was such a Rakai thing to say!! I had to counter that (trying not to laugh) by telling him that the tooth fairy doesn't give money for rotten teeth! Then, Hikawera pipes up saying he got $5 for a rotten (dead actually from being banged) tooth that the dentist had to pull out. I had to go into real damage control then!! Rakai comes out with the funniest things sometimes. He is golden.

Monday Night Fun

For those in the same faith as our family - The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, you would be familiar with Family Home Evening. We have ours most times on a Monday evening. Last night we decided to go into the local school and play netball and on the play gyms that are there. It was a lot of fun. I think I surprised Teancum at how good I was at shooting into the Netball goal. Even Renata, Hikawera and Rakaipaka had a go. There are 2 play gyms at the school. One smaller one at the front of the school for the younger children and one really big one at the back in front of the school pool. This one is really high. If you look at the photo with Teancum in it and note that he is about 2 inches off being taller than me, you will get an idea of how tall this is. The slide is perfect for speed!! (and you know ours LOVE speed). To make it that much more exciting they decided to sit on their shirts and slide down. Needless to say they had a ball....        ...
