We have been building friendships this year with locals in
the area. There are some lovely families that live close by to us. Families
that have really good morals and are just great people. One of these families
Is the owner at the milking farm where the kids get on/off the bus for school. As past blog has
shown, our kids love to go and help muster the cattle up for milking and Mark
doesn’t seem to mind either. Hikawera
amazes me the most, and I guess in part it suits his personality. He
wonders behind the cows calling out softly to them ,”come on girls” and will
give one or two a hand on the rump to move them kindly along. He follows the
instructions perfectly that Mark gives, and just LOVES helping out. Hikawera
has been the first of the kids to go into the ‘pits’ and help with the milking.
Now, we have another..
Arama approached Mark for some holiday work, which to his
delight he was given 2 days of work on the Farm. The prep talks from mum and
dad were given , and by the time Tuesday came along he was so ready just to get
out there. By the end of the two days work, He loved it and Mark was so happy
with his work, he started showing him how to milk. Excellent!. At the end of
the two days work T asked if he had any
more work for him the following week, and when explained to him that money is
hard to come by, he replied, even to do service work! Was I a proud mum or
what. We try to teach our kids the value of service and then to see my son
instigate it on their own is very humbling and rewarding. I am sure Mark did
not know how to take it but has come back this week keen to have Arama back on his farm. My son
is asking almost every day to go back too so he has found something he enjoys
and some good companionship – plus it is a good break from home… My 1st
baby is growing up fast, as they all are, but it is wonderful know, he is a
good boy.
